Best of 2014!

Hard to believe it's that time of year again! While I haven't been very active on my blog this year, I have been out taking photos so expect lots of new work to come in 2015!
In the meantime, here's a selection of my favourite work from 2014. Have a great Christmas and New Year!

A vintage feel!

Over the last while I've been reprocessing older images to get a vintage look. Primarily I've been using some textures which I got from http://www.joelolives.com. They give a great feel to an image. Very atmospheric and lend some mystery to the photos! I find them particularly suitable for macro shots but they work just as well with landscapes.

Martagon Lilies.

I haven't posted anything in a long while as I've been busy moving house.....and garden! The martagon lilies travelled well and still bloomed! Fleeting colour and scent in the garden unfortunately but one of my favourite sights each year!

Dog days in Tennessee!

Managed to sneak in a very quick trip to Gatlinburg recently. Luckily it timed nicely with the annual Dogwood display in and around the Smoky's. Due to the long winter the blooms were only getting towards peak but there was still quite a good showing. I did find some nice displays in the Tremont and Greenbrier areas which along with some nice light early in the mornings lead to some interesting side and backlit images. Just need to find more time to get back again!

Down but not out!

A strange title for a post perhaps but after the havoc wreaked by the recent storms it's pretty apt! I paid a visit to Bellefield House and Gardens in Shinrone recently to see Angela Jupe's famous snowdrop collection. A number of old trees had been felled by the wind but nature is as nature does, growth continued on and the snowdrops were in full bloom. I've posted a large  collection of images here. Many thanks again to Angela for her hospitality - I met with her after this on a snowdropping visit nearby!
